Find a Party Hostess

How to Find Your First Party Hostess

Starting a direct sales business is exciting. Of course it’s probably even more exciting when the sales start coming. Your first step to making a sale is to throw your first direct sales party. That means finding your first party hostess.

Here are a few places to begin the search.

One of the most obvious places to start is with your relatives. After all, they’re family, right? And that’s what family does – they help each other. However, in order to make hosting a party more of a pleasure than an obligation, make sure to ask relatives who will be interested in your products and who will have friends who are interested in your products. It won’t do any good if Uncle Bob hosts a party for your basket business and invites all his mechanic friends, right?

If don’t have family in the area or you just don’t want to ask them, the next obvious place to start is with your friends. Again, make sure to ask only the friends who would actually benefit from the products and would possibly enjoy being a hostess. Make it fun for them and promise you’ll be a good coach and sales representative. Let them know what’s in it for them too, like those cool hostess gifts and discounts on products. (Consider also trading with them if it helps, say they host a party and you watch their children for a day.)

It is almost guaranteed that there are other direct sales consultants in your community. It is a thriving and growing business model and many people are joining the direct sales industry to create a little additional income during these financially tough times. Consider connecting with these other direct sales consultants and trade hosting parties. If you don’t know any other direct sales consultants, post an ad in local papers or community bulletin boards.

Finally, if all else fails, consider those who owe you a favor and call it in. They’ll be glad they helped you and being a hostess, when you’re the direct sales consultant in charge, is guaranteed to be fun, not work, right?

If you still can’t find someone to host for you, consider holding “reverse home party.” It just might be the extra incentive needed to get someone to host for you.

It may take a little creative thinking to find your first direct sales party hostess, however that’s often the most difficult party to book. When guests at that party see the benefits of hosting, you’ll likely get several more parties booked and things will snowball from there.
