Recruiting Tips
Do not overlook or prejudge people. A mistake too many make is to try to find that one “perfect” recruit and they overlook others who would be successful and be valuable team members.
Different people possess different qualities and talents. Always listen for qualities such as a love of helping people, a desire to learn, a love for the product you sell, etc. Everyone can develop the qualities they need to succeed, if they are willing to learn. All you need to be is willing to teach and mentor.
Talk recruiting to everyone, but don’t try to recruit everyone. There is a difference. Try to look for people who are outgoing, ambitious, fun-loving, and who have a sense of creativity. But do not overlook anyone either. Give everyone you can the opportunity to decide for themselves.
Never recruit with the idea of “what’s in it for me”. Always be willing to help others succeed with your awesome opportunity.
Don’t wait for someone to approach you. Nine times out of ten, they won’t.
Don’t think of recruiting only at parties, potential recruits are everywhere you go. Just listen to people as you strike up conversations! Standing in lines at the store or bank strike up a conversation, perhaps making a comment on how the price of gas is crazy but you are so glad you have the extra income from your business to help the family bills.
Listen to your prospects’ needs and tell them how your company can fill them. For instance, if someone needs extra income, don’t tell them about the prizes and incentives that your company offers, but share with them your story of how you have paid for a new item for your home, for a family vacation, or just paid bills with the income you make. Be real, let them know that he or she can do exactly what you do!
If you can tell just in talking with someone that she possesses the qualities of a great team member, tell them. Tell him that you would love to have someone with so much enthusiasm for the product. If she seems hesitant or shy about her abilities, tell her that you will be there every step of the way while she learn the ropes. Assure him that he is not in this business alone but you are there to be a support, trainer and mentor.
If he or she is still hesitant, suggest hosting a party to see what it is you do and what you sell. Or invite him or her to go along to one of your current bookings as your guest.
Never be pushy. When someone isn’t interested, then politely thank them for their time and ask for contact information. If they refuse, give your business card and be done with the conversation. They may think about it and call you, you just never know!
